Subdivision Snow Plowing Documents

Snow Plowing Documents

There are four primary documents of record to be kept about snow plowing.

Request for Bids for Snow Removal

The Board has selected various snow removal companies over the years. There were various reasons for this. Snow plowing is a gambler's business, similar to running a ski resort. Some contractors have discovered that they just can't earn enough money at this sort of job to support their family. Others just get tired of the hours. Some don't do a satisfactory job. This has led to recent decisions by the board to continue to use the same company from year to year if that company did win a bid for the job originally and has been doing a fine job of plowing each subsequent year. This has worked out well in terms of continuity, good working relationships, honing of needs from year to year, and priority service for loyalty.

Our contractor for the 2016-2017 season is thus JD's Sprinklers, the same company as last year. JD's did change hands this past year, but most of the employees remain, including our plower, Michael States. Even though we did not seek new bids this year, we did refresh our Request for Bids document. This helped us iron out a few issues from last year and helps prepare us for the inevitable time when we will again need to send out a request for bids.

Current Contract

As noted above, the Board did not need to request bids this year again, as the response from residents regarding JD's performance the year before was very positive with the exception of a few items, which were ironed out in a new contract.
